Botox

When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? If you see lines and wrinkles staring back at you, this can be disheartening. Lines and wrinkles can make you look older than your age, not to mention make you appear tired and worn out all of the time. But there is good news! Injectable treatments exist, and they may be just what you’ve been looking for to achieve your cosmetic goals. These treatments offer up many benefits, including natural-looking results, convenience, and a lack of surgery, just to name a few.

A Closer Look at Wrinkles

A lot of people don’t realize that wrinkles are not one-size-fits-all. There are actually different types of wrinkles, including static and dynamic. As such, certain injectable treatments are designed to address static wrinkles and others are designed to address dynamic wrinkles.

Natural-Looking Results

Unlike invasive facelift procedures, injectable treatments produce subtle yet noticeable results that look very natural. If you’re like most people, this is what you want out of a cosmetic treatment. You don’t want to look like another person; you simply want to look like the best version of yourself possible. This is exactly what injectable treatments like dermal fillers and BOTOX can accomplish.

Convenient, Non-Surgical Treatments

You will be happy to know that injectable treatments are entirely non-surgical in nature! They are a great option for individuals who would like to improve their appearance, but don’t have the time in their schedule to go through with a surgical procedure and a lengthy recovery. The treatments typically take just minutes to complete.

Neurotoxins and what they can do for you:

There are 4 Brands of Neurotoxin available at this time that are FDA approved.

Botox, a well known name. Dysport somewhat known, Xeomin, Newtox. What do these toxins do for us. Neurotoxins  work best on dynamic wrinkles, which means lines that are seen when we animate, frown , or smile or raise our eyebrows. Neurotoxins are injected in to the glabellar area in to two different muscle groups. The muscle that produces a horizontal line above our nose is the Procerius muscle. The pair of muscles that create a 11 or 111 is the Corrugators. Usually 20-24 units of Botox are injected. If we are using Dysport about 50-60 units are injected in this area. Botox takes about 7-14 days to be effective, whereas Dysport take 3-4 days to be effective. Botox lasts about 4 months whereas Dysport will last 3 months. Patient is advised not to massage the area. You should not lie down for 4 hours after any Neurotoxin injection. Some patients might develop a headache after Botox or Dysport, which  will last a day or two. Neurotoxins are also injected around the crows feet to give  a smoother look as well as forehead to smooth out the lines. Neurotoxins can also be used to create  a brow lift, also can be used to treat the Bunny lines created by the nasalis muscle.

Side Effects:

Ptosis can develop after a neurotoxin injection if it migrates . It can be somewhat improved by using Ipraclonidine drops which activate the Mueller muscle. Ptosis might last  afew months to the full 3-4 months.

Forehead can feel very heavy if too much is injected into the frontalis muscle which is the only elevator of the forehead.

Overall Neurotoxins can give  a very refreshed look without making you look done or artificial.
